| Don't waste even a single drop of water: Slathia | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 7: "Government efforts of augmenting drinking water supply would not serve the purpose of curbing water scarcity in the state until people do not ensure judicious use of this most precious and basic amenity of life", stated the Minister for Industries and Commerce, S. S. Slathia, while addressing a public meeting at Rarian village in Vijaypur Constituency. Addres-sing the public meeting, the Minister made an ardent appeal to the people to realize the futility of wasting even a single drop of water and pledge to save water for their survival. He said that due to long dry spell in the state a number of existing water resources have dried up so it becomes the prime duty of everyone to use water judiciously and honestly. Slathia also handed over appointment orders to 2 ReT teachers of the area and asked them to perform their duty with utmost zeal and dedication. The Minister assured the people that a park will be established in the village soon to add to the aesthetic beauty of the area besides providing an additional facility to the people. He also asked the PDD authorities to formulate a proposal for installation of more poles in the village to ensure proper power supply. The Minister said that the coalition government has initiated a number of reformative measures to empower the people of the State especially ruralities. He emphasized the concerned authorities to create massive awareness regarding their respective development schemes so that people may not be deprived of these welfare schemes mere for lack of information. He asked the people to actively participate in the development process as the government alone could not achieve the desired results in implementation of development programmes without their monitoring of all schemes being executed in their respective areas. Earlier, the Minister flagged off a new water tanker for the people of Bari-Brahamana. District Development Commissioner, Samba, Saurabh Bhagat, Executive Engineer of PDD, PHE and PWD besides other senior officers accompanied the Minister.
