| Militant hideout busted, huge explosives seized in J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 8: Sixty kilograms of deadly-RDX, grenades and some other explosive items were last night recovered from a hideout of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) district commander in Naiyadgam forests of Chhatroo in Kishtwar. Acting on a tip-off about the presence of LeT militants in the Naiyadgam forests, jawans of special operation group (SOG) of police and 11 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a massive combing operation in the area in the morning. While making searches, the jawans came across a militant hideout. There was no militant inside as they had already fled sighting the approaching troops, police sources said. Search of the hideout led troops to the recovery of 60 kg RDX, two pipe bombs, two powerful improvised explosive devices (IEDs), seven detonators, seven Chinese grenades, 11 UBGL grenades, 37 gelatine sticks, 20 mt cordex wire, one radio set battery and a .12 bore gun. The hideout was later smashed by the troops, the sources added. The hideout belonged to LeT district commander Habib Gujjar alias Habibullah alias Salman. Sources said troops had launched a "seek and destroy" operation in the area in search for Salman and his associates. He was a dreaded militant and had been strengthening LeT by recruiting local youth in the militant outfit, the sources added. Searches were continuing when reports last came in.
