| Parshuram Jayanti celebrations commencing today | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 8: Like previous years, Bhagwan Shri Parshuram Janamotsav Shoba Yatra Samiti is going to celebrate Bhagwan Parshuram Jayanti with religious fervour and gaiety. This year the celebrations will begin from tomorrow and conclude on May 12. On May 9, a 'Prabhat Pheri' will be taken out in the morning at 4.30 am from Samiti head office at Panjthirthi to various localities of Jammu city. On May 11, 'Shastras' of Bhagwan Shri Ashram Ji Maharaj will arrive from Akhnoor temple of Bhagwan Parshuram ji at 7 pm at Raghunath Chowk which will be taken to Samiti office in a procession. In the morning of May 12, 'Shastra Puja' of Bhagwan Parshuram ji Maharaj will take place and after puja the Shoba Yatra of Bhagwan Parshuram ji Maharaj will start from Satya Narayan Mandir Darbar Garh road Panjthirthi at 1pm. In the Shoba Yatra nearly 450 participants from nine states of the country are likely to participate. There would also be tableaux of Ram Darbar from Shri Raghunath Temple and Ranbireshwar Temple. The artists from nine states would depict their traditional folk culture in a single procession. Artists from Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi are already in the city and are preparing special clay tableaux. A wooden curveted palki from Ayodhya will be one of the main attractions in which 8 metals, Asth Dhathu idol of Bhagwan Parshuram will be placed. The area around Satya Narayanmandir will be beautifully decorated. The shoba yatra will pass through Mubarak Mandi, Kanak Mandi, Rajinder Bazar, Residency Road, Raghunath Bazar, Purani Mandi, Raj Tilak Road, Moti Bazar, Pacca Danga and Upper Bazar. Children from various schools are also participating with their performances, under the cultural exchange of thought and theme, According to official spokesman of the Samiti, "This is an opportunity to bring culture of nine states under a single umbrella and will also provide an opportunity to Jammuites to interact with the people of other states and exchange the culture besides spreading message of brotherhood. Samiti appeals to Jammuites to show their hospitality and accord warm welcome to the guests from other parts of the country, which is the tradition and nature of Jammu people.
