| HM commander among two militants killed in Mahore | | | Early Times Report Jammu: A Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) area commander and his deputy were killed by police and army in a gunbattle in Khour Nullah at Ladh in Mahore area of Reasi this evening. A selection grade cop (SGC) of police was also injured in the exchange of fire, police sources said. The slain militants, said to be locals, had carved out a hideout in the nullah. Acting on a tip-off about their presence in the hideout, police and army cordoned off the area in the morning and launched a search operation. Sources said when the jawans were closing in on the hideout at about 5.15 pm, the two militants opened fire, which was returned. In the exchange of fire that ensued, SGC Kakka Ram was wounded. He was later airlifted to the GMC Hospital, Jammu, where his condition was stated to be out of danger. Sources said both the militants were shot dead at about 6 pm when they came out of the hideout and made an attempt to flee. Their identity was yet to be ascertained. Two AK rifles and a large quantity of ammunition were recovered from them. The hideout was later smashed by the jawans.
