| Tehsildar, executive engineer booked in disproportionate assets case | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 8: Tehsildar, Jammu, and a SIDCO executive engineer were today booked by state vigilance organisation (SVO) in corruption cases as they were alleged to have amassed huge wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income. Simultaneous raids were carried out by SVO sleuths on their offices and houses in the morning. During searches, which continued throughout the day, the sleuths were said to have seized several official files and vital documents for their scrutiny. The raids were conducted by SVO after obtaining search warrants from the competent court, SVO sources said. Sources said secret inquries had revealed that tehsildar, Jammu, Mohammad Bashir of Madhena in Haveli, Poonch, had amassed huge moveable and immovable property disproportionate to his known sources of income. The property included a house at Madhena worth 15 lakh, a house near Janipura police station on 2.5 kanals of land valuing Rs 40 lakh, a house worth Rs 30 lakh at Shekupura near Srinagar airport, Regal Banquet Hall on Gho Manhasa Road with four shops valuing Rs 50 lakh. In addition to this property, he had a luxury car, ornaments, expensive household articles, electronic goods, a number of plots and building on the names of his relatives and friends and a huge investment in business. The assets were found disproportionate to his legitimate sources of income. Searches in this case were carried out under the supervision of SVO SP Ashok Sharma. According to the FIR registered against SIDCO executive engineer Parveen Pandoh of Bhalla Enclave, Chhani Himmat, it was revealed that he too had amassed huge immovable and moveable property disproportionate to his known sources of income. The property included a palatial double-storey house worth Rs 45 lakh at Bhalla Enclave in more than one kanal of land, a plot in Bhalla Enclave colony, costly electronic gadgets, household items, bank balance, jewellary and luxury car. He was also alleged to have made huge investments in various business establishments of his relatives. Both the officers were booked under section 5(1) read with section 5(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 2006. Searches in this case were carried out under the supervision of SVO SP Shakti Pathak.
