| NC led regime failed to carry forward development agenda: Mehbooba | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT ANANTNAG, May 9: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti today regretted that the National Conference led coalition regime has failed to accelerate the developmental activities in the state despite being the fact that situation has been conducive to concentrate on development sector. Addressing a meeting of party card holders at Mattan in Bijbehara assembly segment, Mehbooba Mufti said that coalition government has publicly acknowledged that due to the efforts of the previous PDP-Congress regime situation has been developed in the state to concentrate more on developmental activities. "It is unfortunate that the present dispensation neither carries forward the political agenda of the previous government nor follows the development policies which were adopted by the PDP-Congress regime", she said and added that instead of taking some effective steps for accelerate developments this regime was indulged in only cosmetic efforts to hoodwink the common masses. She pointed out that development works which were started during previous regime under ERA and NURAM schemes have come to standstill due to the wrong policies of the coalition. Taking a cue from the recent observations made by the Supreme Court on developmental activities in the state, PDP chief said that Apex Court and other institutions have observed that the state has been lacking development due to wrong policies of the present government. "Observations of Apex Court have proved that developmental activities came to standstill in the state", she said. She regretted that various projects started for the development of rural and urban areas have been virtually halted as to lack of vision by the present government. Speaking on the occasion, former Finance Minister Tariq Hamid Karra said that situation in the state was sliding back to the pre-2002 situation due to the wrong policies being adopted by the present dispensation. MLA Bijbehara and former Minister Abdul Rehman Veeri said that the coalition regime has exposed before the masses as the ruling National Conference has failed to fulfill all promises made with the people during the assembly elections.
