EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 9: A magisterial probe was today ordered into the death of a gambler, who died last night while trying to run during a police raid in Kishtwar town. Agitated over the gambler Devi Dass’s death, people held a demonstration in Kishtwar town today. They demanded a probe into the incident and ex-gratia for the family of the deceased. They, however, dispersed peacefully after the deputy commissioner, who along with senior police officers visited the spot, announced a magisterial probe into the incident, according to official sources. He asked authorities concerned to submit the report in two-weeks, the sources added. Dass died last evening when police, on a tip-off, raided a building and nabbed five gamblers along with Rs 22,600. He gave a slip to police and got seriously injured when he jumped from the building and fell into a ditch. He died later on way to the Goverment Medical College Hospital, Jammu.
