Education, key to all human Development: Dy CM

JAMMU, MAY 9: Social organization should to work for the betterment of the society irrespective of political considerations, adding that proper educational opportunities are the key to all human Development stated Tara Chand said this while speaking at a one day convention of SC/ST/OBC Maha Sabha held at Ahbinav theatre Jammu today. This Maha Sabha is a conglomeration of 40 social/ community organizations presently working for the upliftment of the weaker sections of the society under the convernership of Sr. Suchet Singh.
Government is committed for social justice, equitable development of these classes and numerous state as well as centrally sponsored schemes is being launched for their betterment. He said that all the genuine demands of Maha Sabha will be given favourable consideration he added.
He lauded the efforts of UPA Government for getting reservation bill passed. He said that education is the key to any development initiative and stressed for providing education to all as the Government has launched a number of schemes for uplilting educational standard of the people for which a network of educational institutions including that of higher education has been created.
Maha Sabha complimented coalition government and particularly Deputy Chief Minister for getting inter district recruit bill passed in its present form, in which SC's were allotted 8% reservation through out state.
Various demands were put forth which include separate authority/Cell/Deptt to monitor reservation in Governm-ent departments, to create separate department of the welfare of SC/ST/OBC on the pattern of Ladakh Affairs, provision of reservation on contractual posts as well, 27% quota for OBC as per Government of India guidelines. Maha Sabha also demand atleast 10% for OBC/SOC and relaxation of income bar for obtaining OBC/SOC certificates including political reservation and equitable educational opportunity to the children of ST/SC/OBC class.
Among others, MLC Ram Paul, Labha Ram Gandhi, Ch. Hamid, Madan Lal Chalotra, Vaishno Dutt Dogra, President OBC Cell Congress, Advocate J. P. Gandhi and President Gandhi Global Family S.P Verma were present on the occasion.
