7/24/2006 10:15:54 PM
Early Times reporter
Jammu/ July 24
About 14 dead bodies including some unidentified has been recovered by police in different parts of Jammu. Police has also register cases in this regard but, still clueless about the cause of their deaths.
According to reports, some days back body of Sukhdev Yadav son of Hari Ram of Hanuman Garh, Bihar which was lying in a bus recovered by Bus stand police and took him to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu. And also registered a case in this regard but nothing has come out in this regard. In an incident on July 9th police recovered body of Sunil Kumar Awasthi of Bhopal from a hotel room at Railway Station. Police has also registered a case in this regard. On July10th, a male body was recovered from a truck No: PB05H-1955 near Daboh, Samba. The body of one Hari Ram son of Shoba Ram of Danopati, Bihar at present residing at Malik Market was also recovered under mysterious circumstances some days back.
On May 29th an unidentified male dead body was found near BOP Abdullian, R.S Pura. Police took the body to GMC Jammu. On July 2nd also another unidentified dead body was recovered by police from Nikki Tawi. On May 25th an unidentified dead body was recovered by Panjtirthi police under mysterious circumstances. On May18th also an unidentified body was recovered from Mansar Lake. An unidentified dead body was also recovered by Gandhi Nagar police some days back in the area. An unidentified dead body was recovered from Canal some day back. On June 10th body of a female identified as Durga Devi wife of Nathu Ram of Haryana was recovered from railway tunnel under mysterious condition. On July 3rd two dead bodies recovered by police in different places out of which body of Triloki Nath son of Dina Nath of Patoli Brahamana was recovered from Canal near Rajinder park by police and after postmortem police handed over the dead body to family member for last rites and second unidentified male body was also recovered from canal and sent to GMC for postmortem.
All the dead bodies were recovered by police from different areas and also registered cases in this regards but, no clue has been traced so far in any one of these cases. After recovering the bodies police sent them to GMC for identification and in the case of non- identification police handed over the dead bodies to Sewa Samti for last rites. Police also give some money to samiti for cremating the bodies. But, its a big question mark on the working of police department as it has failed to identify that who is behind these deaths. Police closes the file after the last rites in all these cases but, has not made any break through in the matter.
Here it is to mention that each month police recovers dozens of dead bodies in and around Jammu city and all were sent to Samiti for last rites. Maximum of these cases are from outside the state that and it is considered as the reason behind the careless attitude of police in solving these cases. It contradicts with the statement of senior police officers that they always work for people. And it seems that the work of police is restricted only to handing over the bodies to Samiti for the last rites.
