| Non-local is not acceptable to Jammuites: JPPF | | 'Controversy over VC of CUJ' | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 10: Jammu Province People's Forum (JPPF)-an amalgam of more than fifty organizations of the region-today unanimously resolved that it would send its delegation to New Delhi shortly to meet President, Prime Minister and other central Leaders and apprise them about the repercussions if a non local is appointed as Vice Chancellor of the upcoming Central University Jammu. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the under the chairmanship of Y V Sharma President Chamber of Commerce Jammu and it discussed and deliberated upon future strategy in respect of appointment of a local as vice Chancellor of newly sanctioned University. Sunil Sethi, A G Kohli, Narayan Singh, InderJeet Khajuria, Ved Parkash, Uday Chand, Agnishekhar, Paviter Singh, Nathu Ram Gupta, Kailash Langar, Inam and various other prominent persons. Speaking on the occasion, the speakers expressed great resentment over the "delay tactics" being adopted by Central Government for not reviewing the decision of appointment of Vice Chancellor of newly sanctioned University despite repeated requests and representations. It was as unanimously adopted that the organization would leave no stone unturned in getting the decision reviewed and a local highly qualified and deserving person be appointed as the Vice Chancellor of this new University. The speakers said that there is no dearth of scholars and intellectuals from this place. They also said that Amitabh Mattoo during his tenure as Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu not only "boosted corruption" but also created "mess". He made some illegal appointments to please to Political Props. They further alleged that he has "pro-separatist" approach. They warned the Government that with his appointment the situation can assume large dimensions whose responsibility would be squarely on Government concerned. The meeting passed a resolution with one voice that non-local is not acceptable to Jammuites.
