| No classes on May 17: JKPSSU | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Rajouri, May 10: J&K Pahari Speaking Students Union (JKPSSU) today announced to switch off their classes on May 17 in order to participate in State Level Pahari convention. The Union has extended full support in making this event a historic one. Addressing a press conference at Rajouri, J&K State Pahari Speaking Students Union president Abdul Qadir Khan has said that all the Pahari students enrolled in schools, colleges and Universities will not attend their classes on May 17 and they have decided to participate in huge number in the convention. "We will not attend classes on May 17 as we are going to make Pahari Convention a historic event", Abdul Qadir Khan said. Khan said that Pahari community and especially Pahari youth are most deprived in the state and they need a little boost to compete with the rest of the world. He said that they will not oppose any Gujjar but are demanding scheduled tribe status and is genuine demand of the community. Khan said that all Chief Minister of the state along with Governors have recommended ST status for Paharies. He said that even state assembly, high court and Sageer Commission have backed their demand. "We are not demanding anything else but ST status", he said. Pahari students expressed full faith on the Chairman of Pahari Cultural and Welfare Forum, Mushtaq Bukhari and extended their full support in making the event a historic one.
