DGP inspects move police establishments

SRINAGAR, May 10: Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda inspected various move police establishments incl-uding Police Headquarters (PHQ) which re-opened in the summer capital here today. DGP was received at the PHQ lawns by senior police officers and presented guard of honour by a contingent of armed police. Accompanied by senior police officers, Khoda visited various sections of PHQ and enquired from the officials about the working of their branches. Khoda also commissioned a subsidiary block at PHQ. The block has been constructed by Police Construction Division at a cost of Rs 48 lakhs in a record time of four months. DGP also visited other move police offices including the Headquarters of CID, Armed, Security, Traffic, Auxiliary, Crime and Police Housing Corporation. While interacting with the staff, Khoda stressed upon them to render their duties with zeal, enthusiasm and discipline. During inspection of these units, he discussed various matters with heads of these units and gave on the spot instructions for further improvement in police working. Later, the DGP chaired senior police officers meeting at PHQ and reviewed over all security situation in the state. During the meeting, he sought reports from various officers about the functioning of their wings and threadbare discussions were held with regard to security, law and order, traffic, deployment of man power and other professional matters. He urged the officers to work with greater zeal to get desirable results in different fields. It was told that in the wake of durbar move, adequate security arrangements have been made and wherever necessary additional man power has been deployed to keep vigil on the situation. He stressed upon the officers that while making security arrangements, it should be ensured that public does not face any inconvenience. Detailed discussions were held for ensuring better traffic management in the cities of Srinagar, Jammu and major towns of the state. The meeting was told that in view of opening of offices at Srinagar, elaborate traffic arrangements have been made to avoid traffic jams which cause inconvenience to the public. Khoda stressed upon the Traffic police to strictly maintain the smooth flow of traffic and also ensure the parking of vehicles at already identified places so that the people and school children do not suffer while travelling. He also instructed traffic authorities to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow during peak hours of morning and evening. He said that traffic violators dealt with to get better results of traffic arrangements. Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Director General of Police (CID), K. Rajendra Kumar, Inspectors General of Police, Ram Lubhaya and Gopal Reddy.
