| Wakf Board to revise rentals of its properties | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, May 10: The J&K Muslim Wakf Board in its 12th meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah who is also the Chairman of the Board decided to revise the rentals of all wakf properties as per market rates. "There is urgent need of revising the rentals according to the rates prevalent in the market to ensure justified returns from the users of the wakf property", the Board observed. The Minister for Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather, the Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Vice Chairman, Muslim Wakf Board, M.Y. Qadri, members of the Board, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool, Dr. Mehraj-ud-Din, Dr. Nusrat Indrabi, Moulana Reyaz Hamdani, Moulana Showkat Hussain Keng, special invitee Moulana Ghulam Rasool Hami, the Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai and Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir were present in the meeting. Omar underscored the need of proper maintenance and better utilization of wakf property. He said it is the duty of muslim community in general and the Wakf Board in particular to safeguard the properties of wakf and ensure better returns from the users of this property. The Chief Minister constituted two committees of the members-one will work out the programme for propagation of religious education including restoration of the functioning of Madinat-ul-Uloom while other is assigned to examine the demands of wakf employees for revision of pay scales etc. The meeting discussed in detail various issues pertaining to the water proofing of Hazratbal sanctum sanctorum, creation of additional staff for Bibi Halima College and introduction of M. Sc Nursing Course. Matters pertaining to the installation of passenger roof way at Makhdoom Sahib, installation of solar lighting system at Hazratbal and Chrar-i-Sharief shrines, establishment of fair price medical store, creation of staff for Sultan-ul-Arifeen Wakf Higher Secondary School, central heating system for the Hazratbal shrine etc. The Vice Chancellor Wakf Board, M. Y. Qadri explained in detail the achievements registered by the Wakf Board during last one year and explained the proposed development plans and schemes in hand for the maintenance and development of Wakf properties. He said that 12 nursing trainees have been deputed to Saudia Arbia for advanced training during this year whileas more 14 such trainees are being deputed to Saudia Arbia soon.
