Delhi being used by controversial NGOs to promote Pakistani agenda

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 10:The capital of India, Delhi, is allowing controversial Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to organize meetings with a view to expressing solidarity with Pakistan, which has been carrying on an orgy of death and destruction across the country, particularly since 1987 with a view to breaking and destroying India and annexing Jammu and Kashmir. One such three-day-long meeting ended on Friday, May 7. It was organized by the known pro-Pakistan, pro-fundamentalist and pro-separatist NGO, called Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation (CDR). The purpose of the organizers was to conciliate Pakistan, promote the cause of Kashmiri separatists and give legitimacy to the Kashmiri Muslim identity politics and nothing else. In fact, the CDR has been organizing similar meetings for quite sometime now.
Some of those who participated in the track-II meeting included persons from Pakistan and India. Those from Pakistan included former Ambassadors Aziz Ahemd Khan and Dr Hamayun, former Army Chief Jehangir Karamat, former Foreign Secretary Najamuddin Sheikh, former People's Party leader Shireen Rehman, Senator Shafqat Mehmood, Muslim League leader Ahsan Iqbal and MNA Bushra Gowhar and an "human rights" activist IA Rehman. Some of those from India included Rajmohan Gandhi, former Cabinet Secretary B.G. Deshmukh, former Foreign Secretary Salman Haider, Congress leader Mani Shanker Aiyar, Chandrasekhar, former Chief of the Army Staff V.P. Malik, Ex. Maj. Gen Dipankar Banerjee, V. Balachandran, Ramaswami Iyer, Chief Information Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah, Syeda Hameed, Dr. Amitabh Mattoo and journalists Kumar Ketkar, Mohammed Sayeed Malik, Teesta Setalvad, Karan Thapar, Siddharth Vardarajan and Neerja Choudhary.
These so-called trouble-shooters discussed matters ranging from India-Pakistan relations to the Kashmir issue to water dispute between India and Pakistan to terrorism to ways and means that could "sustain dialogue" between the two countries and to what not. The thrust was on making full use of the "goodwill" generated at the Bhutanese capital, Thimpu, on April 29 during the bilateral meeting between the Indian and Pakistani Prime Ministers. The participants described the outcome of the Thimpu meet as the "new window of opportunity".
After three-day-long deliberations, they came out with what they called a "consensus paper". The signatories to the paper included all the persons referred to above. It is obvious that the organizers of this track-II meeting would submit the same to the Government of India and the Government of Pakistan. In fact, according to a report, "the consensus was that the proposals of the back channel would have to be placed before the public of both countries and particularly the people of Kashmir at an appropriate stage", who, as per the so-called conflict-managers, have been facing "hardships arising out of the conflict" and whose "grievances" have to be redressed.
It is also obvious that the organizers of this controversial meeting would mount pressure on New Delhi to adopt the so-called "consensus paper" so that their objective of benefiting Pakistan at the cost of India and the suffering people of Jammu and Ladakh and internally-displaced Kashmiri Pandits is achieved. But more than that, it is also obvious that behind this track-II meeting were certainly certain elements in the Indian establishment. Had certain elements in the confused, directionless and highly questionable Indian political establishment not extended all kind of support, including substantial financial assistance, the so-called conflict-manager and peace-monger CDR would not have been able to organize this conference. In other words, certain elements in the Indian political establishment surely diverted substantial amount to the CDR for organizing an activity that could not be considered as a good omen for India. Or, should we believe that the money came from Pakistan or Saudi Arabia or was it hawala money? It was a major activity and it required substantial amount. The CDR just can't afford to organize such a big event without the support of either the Government of India or the Government of Pakistan or Saudi Arabia and similar other countries, which are backing Islamabad to the hilt to harm the Indian interests.
