| Kasab should be hanged: Farooq | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 10: Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy and former Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah today admired the court verdict in 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack, saying Ajmal Amir Kasab should be hanged as he has done heinous crime by killing about 200 innocent people. "Kasab has been found guilty of killing innocent people and the court has awarded him the death penalty. Whosoever is found guilty by the judiciary should be given the punishment," Farooq told reporters at the sidelines of a concluding day of second Ashok Sodhi Memorial tournament at Parade Ground here. The Union Minister further said, "Our judiciary system is so flexible that he (Kasab) was allowed to appeal in High Court and then for Presidential mercy. He should be hanged to give a lesson to those who have waged a war against the country." Over Lajpat Nagar blast case where court has convicted Kashmiris, Farooq remarked, "Whosoever is found guilty by court should be given the punishment." In reply to vexed Kashmir imbroglio, he said, "There is something round the corner for this long pending issue, which will be acceptable to India, Pakistan and majority people of J&K." "Earlier, plebiscite was promised to people of Jammu and Kashmir but the promise was never kept and in present it is not easy to go back to that," he said, adding, "Former president of Pakistan, Pervez Musharaf had presented four-point-formula to resolve Kashmir issue few years back but India never responded to it. But now a solution is round the corner." When asked whether that solution would be acceptable to separatists too, the Union Minister said, "It doesn't matter whether separatist will accept it or not, majority of people would accept it and after that separatist would lose support from various corners, which in present they get."
