| JU students protest police post Classes to remain off for three days in protest | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 11: Up in arms against the setting up of police post inside the campus, the students and scholars of Jammu University today out a protest rally and demanded immediate removal of the police cops from the campus. Expressing their resentment, the students and scholars boycotted their classes and assembled under the banner of Progressive students' Association (PSA), People's Democratic Students' Federation (PDSF), National Secular Forum (NSF) and Students' Scholars' Joint Action Committee. The protesting students impressed upon the varsity authorities to desist from establishing police station and it would tarnish the image of the highest educational institution. The protesters threatened that if their demand is not fulfilled within next three days agitation would be intensified. They said that the classes would remain off for three days to press their demands. Later, in a meeting, different student organizations unanimously framed a Students' Scholars Committee against Police Post (SSCAPP) to fight from single platform. The committee gave three days as an ultimatum to the administration for this matter. The students were of the opinion that committee formed by administration to look into the matter of police post was nothing more than the eye wash to the students as till date after three months of its formation no meeting has been called to discuss the matter.
