| Heritage School hosts debate competition | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 11: Inter School English Debate Competition for Classes 9th to 11th of Jammu Sahodaya Schools Complex (JSSC) was hosted by Heritage School here today. Fourteen member schools participated in the competition, expressing their opinion for and against the topic: "Social Networking Sites Are Responsible For Moral Degradation of Youth". The debaters of participating CBSE Schools not only had to stand firmly on their perception but also were required to face queries from interlocutors. It was an exciting programme where every participant tried his/her best to draw the attention of the judges and the audience. The event was declared open with the lighting of lamp by Sunita Gupta, Chairperson of Heritage School. It was presided over by Yogesh Khosla Principal MHAC School Nagbani, on behalf of JSSC. The judges were Dr Chand Trehan, Seeta Anand and Rifat Chaudhary. As prelude to the occasion, all the members of the jury threw light on the topic as well as opined about students' performance. Chairp-erson, Sunita Gupta , Principal of the host School B N Sarkar, President JSSC, Yogesh Khosla , Principal MHAC School, Nagbani distributed the prizes. The prestigious Rolling Trophy for the Best School in the debate went to Heritage School, Jammu. Best debater for the motion went to Tavleen Kour of Heritage School, Jammu, best debater against the motion was won by Apoorva of BSF Senior Secondary School. There was a tie for best interlocutor for the motion between Sanchit of Delhi Public School and Herman of Jodhamal Public School. The best interlocutor against the motion went to Himani of DPS. The debaters with their reasoning and eloquence thrilled the audience and made the debate a memorable one. Yogesh Khosla, Principal MHAC School Nag-bani , Presiding Officer for the debate, deliberated upon the topic deeply while highlighting the finer nuances of soc-ial net working. K C Mehta, Secretary JSSC, thanked the participating schools and the host school for their valuable co-operation in making the programme a success.
