| NCSU demands state commission for education | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 11: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Student Union (NCSU) has demanded setting of State Commission for Education to ensure the accountability of the education system. Addressing media persons here today, Rahul Sharma, president, NCSU said, "As education alone is the foundation on which a prosperous society can be built. To cater the immediate aspirations of the people we demand from the government to constitute the state commission for education. "It will ensure the accountability of the education imparting and implementing agencies whether they are government or private and to frame the policies and norms for education sector in the state", he said, adding, "The Commission should be headed by Chief Minister and members including educationists, students and parents". Yasser F Khan Secretary said that the government of Jammu and Kashmir is doing ample work for developing education system in the state adding that recent transfer policy in education department is an example. He said that NCSU will submit a memorandum of its demand for Education Commission to the Chief Minister and the ministers. Other who were present in the press conference included Riaz Choudary, Mukti Sharma, Bhanu Partap Singh and Yash Sharma.
