‘Shift Shabir to Srinagar’
5/12/2010 12:10:23 AM
JAMMU: The High Court Tuesday directed the government to shift detained Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman, Shabir Shah to Srinagar Central jail immediately. Shah is presently lodged in Kot Balwal Jail within a week. The government was further directed to file a detailed affidavit in response to his petition. Shah is ailing and was hospitalized in a Jammu hospital recently. A spokesman of the DFP warned the government of serious consequences if the ailing leader was not shifted to Srinagar in accordance with the court directions.
Meanwhile, National Front Chairman, Nayeem Khan refused to appear in the court in handcuffs. Taking strong note of failure of the police to effect presence of Nayeem Khan, the police told the court he (Nayeem) had refused to wear handcuffs.
