| Impressive Parshuram Shobha Yatra taken out | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU May 12: Religious fervour marked the birth celebrations of Bhagwan Shri Parshuram as an impressive Shoba Yatra was taken out here in the city of temples. The Shobha Yatra commenced from Satya Narayan Mandir Darbar Garh Road, Panjthirthi after the "Shastra Puja" of Bhagwan Parshuram Maharaj. Thousands of devotees from across the State and seven other states of the country participated in the Shobha Yatra along with tableaux of Lord Rama, Lord Shiva, Bhagwan Parshuram etc. In the Shobha Yatra, about 450 participants from nine states of the country had come to participate in the Yatra. There were also tableaux of Ram Darbar from Shri Raghunath Temple and Ranbireshwar Temple. The artists from the states of Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab depicted their traditional folk culture in a single procession. Various school children also participated with their performances, under the cultural exchange of thought and theme. Devotees sung religious hymns and slogans in favour of Bhagwan Parshuram. The Shobha Yatra passed from many areas of the city including Mubarak Mandi, Kanak Mandi, Rajinder Bazar, Residency Road, Raghunath Bazar, Purani Mandi, Raj Tilak Road, Moti Bazaar, Pacca Danga and Upper Bazaar. Special clay tableaux of river Hoogly prepared by the artists from Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi besides a wooden curved Palki from Ayodhya were the main attractions in which eight metals, (Asth Dhathu) idol of Bhagwan Parshuram was placed. The six kilometer long passage was well-decorated with buntings and colourful flags. The devotees recited Bhajans and sprinkled the holy water. To welcome the Yatra, the shopkeepers of the city showered flowers, 'Gulab Jal' and scent. There were about 50 stalls of eatables for the devotees. Many people decorated their houses and shops. Earlier, Shastras of Bhagwan Shri Parshuram Ji Maharaj arrived from Akhnoor Temple of Bhagwan Parshuram Ji at 7:00 PM on 11th May at Raghunath Chowk which was taken to Smiti office at Panjthirthi in a procession. On May 9, a 'Prabhat Pheri' (morning procession) was taken out from Samiti head office at Panjthirthi to various localities of Jammu city.
