HC restricts JDA from charging enhanced rent

JAMMU: High court judge, Justice JP Singh has directed Jammu Development Authority (JDA) not to charge enhanced rent from the tenants of its shops near Shakuntla theatre.
The court directive came in a writ petition filed by four tenants of JDA shops near Shakuntla theatre.
In his direction, Justice Singh said, "The respondents shall not charge enhanced rent from the petitioners, who shall, however, continue to pay the agreed rent."
Earlier, when the JDA lawyer sought more time to file objections, the judge allowed him four weeks' time. The petition was filed by Subash Chander Gupta, Prabhu Raj Kotwal,
Prevaz Akhtar and Sushma Devi through advocate Anil Sethi. The petitioners are the allotees of shop No 3, 4 6 and a hall measuring 1021 sq ft.
