ACR Jammu, Dir JDA among other revenue officials beaten

JAMMU, May 12: Lawlessness prevailed in the Bahu Fort area when forest employees beat revenue and JDA higher officers. The incident occurred at noon when on the direction of DC Jammu MK Dividi revenue officers including ACR Jammu Inderjeet Bhagat and JDA officers led by director JDA Babu Ram reached at Bachan Depot at Bahu Fort to measure the piece of land. The piece of land is at present in the possession of forest department. The land measuring 19 kanal was allotted to JDA by government in 1999 cabinet meeting.
The high drama filled with the violent acts was witnessed in spur of moments when the officers reached on the spot. They were beaten up by the forest employees resulting multiple injuries to the them. Their two vehicles were also tortured and the entire record of revenue they carried with them for demarcation was burnt to ashes. Forest employees also resorted to stone pelting on the officers. Later the officers rushed to the Trikuta Nagar police station and narrated the incident. However, police has arrested seven employees of State Forests of Corporation including its union leader CK Sudan.
Director JDA Babu Ram when contacted said, "We went to measure the piece of land allotted to us by government and for the purpose a team of revenue led by ACR Jammu was also accompanied us but shockingly forest employees attacked us," Police has registered a case against the culprits and investigation is in progress.
Terming it lawlessness among the polished class DC Jammu MK Diwidi when contacted said that SSP Jammu has been informed about the incident. He further said that higher officers of the forest have been called for explanation and added that tomorrow a revenue team with police force will be sent to conclude the work.
However, highly placed sources said that government has decided to shift the MLA hostel from Jammu to Bachan Depot and for the purpose the land has been allotted to the JDA to carry out the works. Trikuta Nagar police has registered a case in this connection is conducting raids to arrest the culprits, SSP Jammu Bsant Rath informed.
