| Commuters fretting, fuming under Sun | | Durbar is gone, traffic cops 'breathe it easy' | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 12: Within days after the shifting of the Durbar move offices from the winter capital of the state here in Jammu the entire administration tends to breathe easy after a hectic schedule of six long months when they remained on their toes. Along with them even the traffic police and other security agencies deployed on security duties to man the sensitive nakas points take a long break and can be seen relaxing at places other than their place of duty. Starting from main city crossings it is difficult to locate adequate number of traffic cops regulating traffic for the smooth flow of vehicular movement. Thin attendance of cops in Khaki and blue uniform is however baffling many commuters on regular basis as they get struck in traffic jams at peak hours and often they fail to trace presence of single cop anywhere near the chaos to clear the rush. Majority of traffic police cops who were omnipresent on these turnarounds and city landmarks only few days ago across main city roads and busy traffic junctions appear to have gone into hiding perhaps due to rising mercury levels . Instead of standing for long under the scorching sun, they can be seen enjoying cool shades in one corner or the other. Same is the case with the several 'naka' points erected across the city to channelise smooth flow of vehicular movement after proper screening and frisking of suspected persons. A general trip across the city starting from Satwari to Janipur police station is enough to expose the loop holes in the security bandobast. The commuters violate traffic rules without any reprimand. The thin attendance of jawans at several naka points seems to have gone unnoticed in the eyes of senior cops.Even during the night the majority of city naka points remain unattended with only handful of jawans present on the spot at few odd places.
