| Maintain status -quo, DB, orders state to file objection | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 13: Division Bench comprising Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain and Justice JP Singh in a LPA filed against judgment of Single Judge regarding shifting of head-quarter of newly created block office Marmat Doda, has issued notice to state of Jammu & Kashmir through Chief Secretary, Commi-ssioner Secretary Rural Devel-opment, Director Rural Development Dept and others for filling objections with one week and ordered status-quo shall be maintained. LPA filed inhabitants of Seven Panc-hayats out 11 Panchayats of newly created Marmat Block against judgment of Single Judge dated April 12, 2010, prayed for setting aside the same and directing state respondents to take decision at appropriate level of cabinet or state hierarchy, keeping in consideration convenience of all inhabitants of newly created Marmat block. During course of argument Adv BL Kagotra appearing for appellants submitted that in view of difficulties faced by public of Marmat area of Assar Block of Doda, Govt decided to create a new block comprising of 11 Panchayats by notification dated June 4, 2002 but did not take decision about the location of its head quarter and new block office shifted to Khellani which is at national highway and easily approachable for all. Some interested persons of four Panchayats pressing shifting Block level offices of entire department including rural development, social welfare and education to Goha which is central place to those four Panchayats only, ignoring the convenience of the other seven panchayats and prayed for issuing direction to State to take appropriate decision in consideration connivance of all the inhabitants of newly created block. ---JNF
