| JU students' protest enters third day Police Post row | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 13: The students and scholars of Jammu University continued their protest on the campus for the third consecutive day today against the setting up of police post with making fervent appeal to the civil society to come forward and support the student community. The students and scholars have also resolved to intensify their agitation if their demand of removal of police post from the campus is not fulfilled soon. The protesting students and scholars assembled under the banner of Student Scholars Committee against Police Station (SSCAP)-an amalgam of various student organizations against the establishment of Police Station on the campus and took out a protest rally. The protestors also burnt the effigy of the Vice Chancellor of the varsity near Fountain Plaza to show their resentment against the establishment of the police post. Raising slogans against the university authorities, they accused the Vice Chancellor of following "dictatorial and autocratic approach" to run an academic institution. They further criticized the three members' committee comprising with DGP, ADG (CID) and VC vis-à-vis working of Police on the campus and said, "the Committee has not organized even a single meeting thus far." Addressing the agitating students, PDSU president, Sohail Khan said that there is a need to show unity of student community against the "dictatorial attitude" of JU authorities. He further appealed the civil society to come forward and support the student community against the Dictator VC of JU. Prominent student leaders who addressed the protestors included Amit Billoria, Himanshu Sharma, Babita, Bindusar Abrol, Rohit Bharti, Sunil Himachali, Ashish Palli, Mohinder Singh, Neema, Simmi, Anjali, Jagneet Kour, Rnaga Hussain, Neha, Ravi, Priyanka, and Sapna.
