| Hanging Guru not in national interest: Baig | | | Srinagar, October 16: Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig said here on Monday the hanging of Mohd Afzal Guru doest not suit national interest of India and people will turn violent instead of getting frightened.
Talking to KNS Baig said he talked to around half a dozen TV channels, but one of the TV Channels quoted him out of context. Clarifying he said " I never said hanging of Afzal Guru suits national interest". Saying that some individuals and some political groups are campaign for building public opinion on favour of hanging of Guru, while as Presidential clemency is a right guaranteed in the constitution.
He said there are aspects of capital punishment, one people get a lesson and the other people turn violent and in case Afzal Guru is hanged, people will turn violent instead of getting frightened.
