| Slathia inaugurates Smailpur-Khedian road | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 16: Minister for Industries and Commerce, S S Slathia today inaugurated upgraded Government Middle School Rara in Vijaypur Constituency. This project under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) was completed in a record time at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.60 lakh. While speaking on the occasion, the Minister assured that construction of road to Shamshan Ghat shall be taken up soon. He also assured the people for improvement of lanes and drains in the said area. He informed that a team from the Central Government visited this area for assessment of loses due to drought. He also inaugurated works of lanes and drains at Rara village which has been constructed under BADP Model Village Suankha (2009-10) scheme at the cost of Rs. 3.76 lakh. He also inaugurated Smailpur Khedian road completed at the cost of Rs. 25 lakh and another road in Smailpur Bazaar constructed at the cost of Rs. 10 lakh.Addressing a public meeting at Smailpur, the Minister assured the people that all steps will be taken to ensure regular water and power supply to the area. He also issued onspot directions to the concerned officers to preserve the old pond of the area. He assured that a community hall will be constructed in the area soon. Slathia informed that, Rs. 30 lakhs has already being sanctioned for construction of stadium in Smailpur and announced three number mast lights to be installed in the Smailpur area.Earlier, Slathia inaugurated a branded showroom M/s Citizen Optician at Bahu Plaza, North Block, Jammu.
