| Bhalla inaugurates tube well at Sanjay Nagar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 16: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today inaugurated a 3000 gallon capacity mini tube well at Sector-4 Extension in Sanjay Nagar, completed at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh under the Water Supply Scheme. Addressing a large gathering, Bhalla said that on the commissioning of tube well, a population of about 2000 in Sanjay Nagar and its adjoining areas would be benefited. He asked the concerned departments to lay drinking water supply pipes in the uncovered areas and complete the restoration work of the link road so that the people do not face any inconvenience. He said that due to global warming and continuous dry spell in the country, the water level is decreasing day-by-day. He said 'it is duty of every citizen to save drinking water. He asked the people to use drinking water judicious. He said that coalition Government has approved Rs. 227 crore for construction of tube wells and Over Head Tanks in Gandhi Nagar constituency. He said that on the dedication of tube wells to the people of Gandhi Nagar, the drinking water scarcity in the area would be solved to a large extent. At Sunjwan, the Minister laid the foundation stone for upgradation/improvement of 1.20 kilometer long link road from Nowabad Sunjwan to Bathindi Talab via Haji Mohalla, coming up at a cost of Rs. 20 lakh. Interacting with the locals, Bhalla said that Government is committed to provide better roads in every nook and corner of the State besides connecting the far-off areas with the nearest headquarter. He asked the executing agency to complete it within stipulated time frame. He asked the engineers to personally monitor the ongoing projects and the quality of material used stressing that no laxity in this regard will be tolerated. Earlier, at Gorkha Nagar in Bahu Fort, the Minister inaugurated newly constructed 4-room at Government Girls Middle School, Gorkha Nagar, completed at a cost of Rs. 6 lakh under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. Later, at Chatha Farm, Bhalla conducted a public darbar and assessed the hardships of the people including problems of lanes and drains, land deficiency compensation to left out refugees families, replacement of wires, pension to widow, physically challenged and old aged beneficiaries. He asked the R&B department to immediately start the construction work of internal lanes and drains of Chatha Farm for which Rs. 28 lakh has been earmarked.
