Punjab wrestler Gurvinder wins Kanyala Kesari dangal

JAMMU, May 19: Punjab wrestler Gurvinder Singh clinched the 11th Annual Kanyala Kesari Dangal title beating Benia of Jammu and Kahmir Police in the main bout that took place at Kanyala in block Dansal of district Jammu.
Gurvinder was awarded a cash prize of Rs 5000 by the organizers while runners-up, Benia received Rs 4000 as prize money. Day-long dangal was organised by Kanyala Dangal Committee under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Association.Commandant, Kiran Acharya was chief guest, who gave away prizes to the winners. President, J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided. Station House Officer Jhajjar Kotli, Ajay Batt, ex-Sarpanch, Kishori Lal Sharma and Mohan Lal Mengi were guests of honour. In all, 51 bouts were played in this vishal dangal.
The second main bout went to Parveen of Chandigarh, who beat Roshan Lal of J&K Police. In the third main bout played between Sunil Kumar of Chandigarh and Onkar Singh of BSF ended in a draw after 21 minutes of undecided bout.
Members of Kanyala Dangal Committee and other technical officials who assisted in the smooth conduct of dangal were Karan Dutt Sharma, Bishan Dass Sharma, Jagan Nath, Ram Dass, Kartar Chand, Munshi Ram, Raj Sharma, Rama Kant Sharma, Beli Ram, Om Parkash Verma, Retd Capt. Lehar Singh, Vijay Singh (Biju), Raj Singh and Mohd Fareed.
Speaking to the gathering, Shiv Kumar Sharma complimented Kanyala Dangal Committee for making dangal a regular feature at Kanyala. Other Results: Vishu bt Raju; Babbu bt Pali; Kuldeep Singh bt Bitta; Billu bt Vijay; Liakat Ali bt Happy; Pappu bt Pawan; Lalla bt Dellar Khan; Surinder bt Prem Verma; Kuldeep bt Ajeeta; Subash bt Billu; Sandeep bt Vijay; Kulbir bt Raju. Bouts between Murad Ali and Lalli, Prahald Singh and Inderjeet; Tirthu and Billu Kalu and Sukha; Bal Mukund and Anil Kumar; Sucha and Bobri; Gulshan and Akram; Raja and Fizaa; Dana and Swarn Singh ended in draw.
