| Fire in Vaishnodevi hills, 3 houses gutted | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 19:Forest fires broke out in Trikuta hills housing the holy cave of Mata Vaishno Devi late last night, razing three houses and a poultry farm. The fire started from the hills adjoining Adh-Kunwari late last night and soon spread in an area of 300 square metres, official sources said. Sources said flames also engulfed three houses and a poultry farm, burning them completely. There was, however, no loss of life, the sources added. Police, Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board officials and forest guards rushed to the spot this morning. Sources said forest guards and other employees started beating the flames in the morning to stop them from spreading towards forests leading to the holy cave. In another incident, over 500 square metre of forest area was gutted in a fire in Purmandal belt of Samba early today.The blaze was extinguished by fire service department and forest officials, the sources added.
