Girls outperform boys again in Class 12th exams

JAMMU, May 19: Maintaining their supremacy in the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School (JKBOSE) examinations, girls outperformed boys in the overall pass percentage of this year's Class 12th exams announced by the board this afternoon.
The girls made virtually a clean sweep in Arts stream by securing 10 positions (shared by 12 students) while the boys outshone girls in prestigious Science stream and managed to clinch first position. However, the first ten positions in Commerce stream were equally shared by girls and boys (five each).
A total of 45 per cent students cleared the exam. The results were declared on the official website of the Board this afternoon. However, owing to the frenzied rush of students and their guardians, it remained jammed till late evening. 48 per cent girls passed the examination whereas only 43 percent boys made it through.
As many as 43448 students appeared in the examination out of which only 19610 managed to clear exam. A total of 1883 students scored distinction in their respective field of subjects while 5717 students got first divisions, 8064 secured second division and 3946 third division. 17940 students got reappear whereas 5898 failed in the examination.
Chetan Chalotra of RSJN Higher Secondary School Kathua topped in Science Stream, by securing 94.9 percent marks while Bupin Sapru of S P Higher Secondary School and Meenakshi Bhat of Dream Land Public School bagged second and third positions by securing 93.8 per cent and 93.6 per cent marks respectively.
Meanwhile in Commerce stream, Parul Chhibber from Government Girls Higher Secondary School Mubarak Mandi topped the exams by securing 92.8 percent marks while the second and third position went to Aman Mahajan and Shivanag Sharma from Montessori Nargis Dutt Public School and SRML Higher Secondary School who secured 92.5 per cent and 92 per cent marks respectively.
Farhat Shamim Khan from Government Girls Higher Secondary School Bhaderwah bagged first position in Arts Stream by 91.61 percent marks whereas Mehul Singh and Mikta Sambyal from Government Higher Secondary School Mubarak Mandi and Shishu Niketan Higher Secondary school shared second and third positions by securing 89.4 and 88.2 percent marks respectively.
In the faculty of Science, Abhishekh Sharma from SP Higher seconadray School bagged fourth position by securing 93.3 percent marks while five slot was shared by Era Mehta and Vipul Bandral by securing 92.9 percent marks respectively.
Akshay Kumar, Ankush Bhat and Paris Mahajan bagged sixth position securing 92.5 marks respectively. Seventh rank was shared by Anshu Mahajan and Rahul Gupta who secured 92.1 percent marks. Eighth position was also shared by Mahima Aggarwal and Saksham Naraina who got 92 percent marks. Sahil Dutta and Yashavani shared ninth position by securing 91.7 marks. Three students Arshdeep Singh Jolly, Dishant Mahajan and Pratigya Suri shared tenth rank by securing 91.6 percent marks.
In Commerce Stream, Suman Kumari, Shallu Manhotra, Vineet Kohli clinched fourth, fifth and sixth positions by securing 91.6 per cent, 91.4 per cent and 91 per cent marks while seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth position went to Manik Gupta, Tania Kahjuria, Kavish Gupta and Yamini Gupta by securing 90.9 per cent, 90.5 per cent, 89.8 per cent and 89.7 per cent marks
Similarly, fourth position in Arts stream was shared by Mehak Sharma and Mohd Arif Mir who secured 87.7 per cent marks while Priya Sharma bagged fifth position by managing 87.4 percent marks.
Asia Aman and Kajal Kalsi shared sixth position by securing 87 percent marks while seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions was secured by Swati, Manjeet Kour, Ravinder Singh and Jaspreet Kour by securing 86.8 per cent, 86.5 per cent, 85.2 per cent and 84.5 per cent respectively.
