| Omar contradicts FM's figure, says J&K has 7.5 lakh unemployed youth | | Mobile schools to be restored | | Early Times Report Rajouri, May 19: Contr-adicting his own Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather's statistics about the unemployed youth in the state which he recently stated was around 5 lakh, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today put this figure at 7.5 lakh across the J&K state. Omar also reiterated his assertion that his government cannot provide jobs to all as they have the capacity for only one lakh unemployed youth in government sector. In the second week of this month, Minister for Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather in a press conference came out with a figure of 5 lakh unemployed youth, Chief Minister on Wednesday contradicted this figure saying "J&K has 7.5 lakh unemployed youth". Chief Minister while speaking in the inaugural function of Government Degree College Thanamandi Rajouri, said that they have conducted a survey in the state to know the actual figure of unemployed youth. "We have 7.5 lakh youth unemployed", he said adding "we cannot give government jobs to all". Omar however said that there is capacity of absorbing one lakh unemployed youth and he will do that. He has said that remaining unemployed youth should opt private sector for earning their bread and butter. He said that people should not run behind government jobs only and they should also opt for jobs in private sector. "We are also starting some new projects in education, tourism and power sector and I hope most of the unemployed youth may be absorbed in these projects", he added. In order to open the technical institutes so that people could be trained and they can earn their bread and butter, Chief Minister said that his government has taken up the matter of opening of 70 new ITI's in this state and these ITI's will be opened in most deserved places. "I hope these institutes will lesson graph of unemployed youths ", he added. Terming Mughal Road as economic booster for Rajouri and Poonch, Chief Minister said that once the road will be opened, the fate of people of twin border districts will automatically changed. "This will open new vistas for the people and will make them self reliant", he said adding "The day is very near when the road will be thrown open for vehicular traffic", he said. Accompanied by Minister for Higher Education Abdul Gani Malik, Minister of State for Higher Education Dr Manohar Lal and Minister of State for Forest Shabir Ahmed Khan, Chief Minister announced restoration of all mobile schools which were shut down during the last 30 years. He said that his government will strengthen these schools to benefit Bakerwal community whose wards remain uneducated due to their nomadic nature. Omar has said that buildings will do nothing if there was no quality in education. He said though Thanamandi College has a beautiful building, it should be known far and wide for imparting the quality education
