| Three held for carrying on illicit liquor trade, eight gamblers booked | | | Jammu oct-16-In its continuous drive against the distillation of illicit liquor and its sale and also to put an end to the menace of gambling especially in view of ensuing festivals, Border Police Jammu carried out extensive raids under the supervision of SSP Border Jammu Rajinder Gupta. In R S Puara one Kishore Kumar son of Sansar Chand of Sujadpur Miran Sahib was arrested under section 50 A of Excise Act while Des Raj @ Roda son of Chuni Lal of Karyal was booked following recovery of two bottles of illicit liquor from his possession. A Case FIR NO 77 / 2006 u/s 48 of Excise Act was registered against him in Police Station Arina. The SSP said that in another raid one Sewa Singh son of Lachman Singh of Raika was arrested and 50 litres of raw material of illicit liquor was recovered from the accused and destroyed on spot. A case FIR NO 282/ 2006 u/s 48 of Excise Act was registered against him at Police station Ramgarh. The SSP further said that during the raids against gambling as many as eight persons were taken into custody and booked under section 13 of the Gambling Act.. Those arrested included Ajay Kumar, Bishan Das,Tarseem Lal all residents of Purana Pind, Joginder Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Rajinder Kumar and Vipin Kumar residents of R S Pura.
