Oppose charges for setting up of 'langers' en route Amarnath shrine

JAMMU, May 20: Expressing solidarity with the protesting Jammu University students, Bharatiya Vidyarathi Sena (BVS) today demanded that no police post should be established on varsity campus.
"There is no need of police deployment in any educational institution here and the government's move to establish police post in Jammu University is a highly condemnable step. Any such move would deteriorate the situation in the varsity and the onus would lies on the State government particularly Chief Minister Omar Abdullah," Vikrant Sharma, state president BVS told reporters here.
The Sena president also expressed concern over charging of money for establishing 'langers' en route the pilgrimage of Amarnath shrine in north Kashmir.
"We appeal the Board and the Governor, N N Vohra, who is also the chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) to exempt the security for establishing free Langer, Toll Tax on the food grains brought from outside of the state which is to be used for langers and exemption on the Toll Tax from private as well as commercial vehicles in which the pilgrims are visiting Jammu and Kashmir to pay obeisance at holy shrine," he said.
Sharma also described it as "anti-Hindu" acts aimed at hurting the sentiments of pilgrims visiting Amarnath shrine.
The organization also demanded sixth pay commission benefits for the retired government employees and those who are availing family pension.
Meanwhile, he, on the directions of the Shiv Sena supermo Bala Thackrey, declared his team.
He appointed Pawan Sharma as vice president, Rajesh Sharma as secretary, Rakesh Kumar as district president (Jammu), Suresh Kumar as district vice president (Jammu), Sumit Gondhi district secretary (Jammu), Rakesh Sharma city president (Jammu City), Deepak Gupta city vice president (Jammu city) and Suresh Gupta as secretary Jammu city unity.
