| Justice Gupta commission to submit report before August 9 | | | Jammu, July 25:-The much awaited report of the one-man commission constituted by the Governor SK Sinha on June 29 to probe into the controversy over the tampering of the ice lingam in the holy mountain cave of Amarnath,is likely to be submitted before August 9. The Commission was given one month for submitting its report. Sources in the commission said that Justice Gupta has already started compiling his report and is likely to submit the same in the first week of August after his visit from Pahalgam. Justice KK Gupta will be visiting Pahalgam after a two day stay in Srinagar in connection with the Diamond Jubliee celebrations of the High Court. Informed sources said that Mr Gupta had already interacted with pilgrims,security personnel and the priests,and had detailed discussion with a cross section of pilgrims,Government officials and experts in Srinagar and Jammu. Sources disclosed,Mr Gupta is strictly verifying allegations levelled against the Shrine Board authorities for having ordered supply of dry ice and other substances for creating artificial ice lingam. The sources said that after completing examination of several sections of people,Government agencies and experts Mr Gupta has now started writing his report.The voluminous report will reproduce the opinion of the experts on geology,glaciology. Mr Gupta,according to sources close to him,will submit his report to the Governor before August 9.He was supposed to submit the report by July 29 but slight delay has been caused owing Mr Guptas pre occupation with diamond Jubilee celebrations in Srinagar.
These sources said that justice Gupta will have another session with those who had filed complaints in Pahalgam on July 30. The sources said that during examination of a cross section of people,pilgrims,priests and security personnel Mr Gupta did not find any substance in the charge against the Shrine Board for having tampered with the original ice lingam.Mr Gupta has also come to the conclusion that waxing and wanning of the ice lingam was a natural phenomenon and it was not for the first time that the ice lingam had melted.
