| BJP strengthening nationalist forces: Manhas | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 27: Bharatiya Janata Party does not believe in exploiting the people for the sake of votes as it has definite ideology and principles and we never compromise on them, said BJP state president Shamsher Singh Manhas while interacting with the party activists at Srinagar and Ganderbal. Manhas, who is on a week long tour of different districts of Kashmir province, spent a day with the party activists and held one to one talk in order to have a detailed input at the grass roots level. Shamsher Singh Manhas, while addressing the gathering said the state has suffered a lot during the last 20 years of militancy. While our party has been working towards the welfare of common man and strengthening nationalist forces in the state, unlike the parties like the Congress, the NC and the PDP which have always exploited the people for vote bank politics. These parties have ruled the state for different periods after independence but instead of being concerned with common man, leaders of these parties have focused on their personal gains. Terming the present NC-Congress coalition as a "coalition of opportunism", Manhas said the Congress, which is a national party, has been totally exposed as "power hungry party". He said the Congress has no concern with what PDP or NC demands. Its one point agenda is to remain in power at any cost. BJP chief cautioned the people of Kashmir not to get misled by such element who every now and then give bandh calls. He said the current summer has attracted lakhs of tourists in valley and in coming days Amarnath yatra is to commence. The flow of tourists and pilgrims will prove to be a source of employment for the valley people for few months but if the serial bandhs are held it will badly affect the visits of tourists and pilgrims and the sufferers will be the common people. BJP State Vice-president Sofi Yousuf, briefed Manhas about the party's organizational and political activities being undertaken in different parts of the valley as also the future strategy to further strengthen the party.
