| 20 years on, Transport Nagar still lacks basic infrastructure | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 27: Every time businessmen, traders, transporters and representatives of various trade organisations running their business establishments from Transport Nagar demand basic infrastructure facilities to run their show in order. Senior state government officials of various agencies and the political class at the helm tirelessly explain number of schemes launched by them to make better infrastructure for their betterment. But on ground zero it appears all those schemes seems to have by passed Transport Nagar located in Narwal area on the outskirts of Jammu. Starting from basic amenities like drinking water facility, uninterrupted power and water supply, better road conditions, general hygiene Transport Nagar have none of it even though the state government earns large sum of tax revenue from business establishments situated in Transport Nagar. The ongoing tug of war between the Jammu Development Authority and the Jammu Municipal Corporation has added to the miseries of small time businessmen and big players alike as both the authorities have been washing their hands from providing basic amenities to the businessmen. Large number of businessmen , shopkeepers and representatives of the Transport Nagar told this correspondent that they have been making endless rounds to the offices of the JDA and JMC highlighting their plight but all in vain. "We have even apprised the Transport Minister and other senior cabinet rank ministers about the problems we are facing but none has bothered to come forward to solve issues pertaining to basic amenities", the transport Nagar businessmen said. Lambasting the lax approach of the JDA and JMC authorities the businessmen rued that some time they have to engage private sweepers and water tankers to meet their basic needs of hygiene and water supply. The power situation is also not so good and unscheduled cuts cause them lot of hardships.
