| Prominent citizens criticize Pakistan's role in J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 28 : Asse-rting that Centre should make its stand clear on Jammu and Kashmir, several prominent citizens representing different fora today expressed dismay over government's intent to hold dialogue with Hurriyat on Kashmir issue, knowing that the latter is a creation of Pakistan and another face of Jihad. ''Hurriyat is absolutely a creation of Pakistan and separatists have a pro-Pakistan ideology but despite that, the Government of India, wants to invite them for talks, this is surprising,'' Mr M M Khajuria, former Director General of Police (DGP), Dr Ajay Churungoo, chairman Panun Kashmir and Prof Hari Om, a Congress leader and Head Chair, Maharaja Gulab Singh, said in a joint press conference here this morning. ''We do not allow Government of India to dilute any of its parameters and this is the time that it should make its stand very clear on Jammu and Kashmir,'' Prof Hari Om said, ahead of Prime Minister's Kashmir visit scheduled on June 7. ''We want to state without hesitation that the terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir is not on the retreat,'' Dr Churungoo said. He said even though the Centre had taken a firm position in respect to the Mumbai terrorist attacks, the required focus on trans-India nature of terrorism originating from Pakistan was missing. ''The Indian position must, therefore, relate to the ground realities and categorically shift from dealing with Jammu and Kashmir as an issue apart and treat it as a component of overall terrorist war waged by Pakistan and its Pan-Islamic allies operating from Pakistan with its connivance,'' the Panun chairman added. The speakers, however, said Centre must see beyond 26/11 to have better ties with the neighbouring country.
