| As Rain Romance triumphs, Jammuites 'Feel the Heat' | | | SIDDHARTH EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 28: After great hide and seek, finally it was romance in the air that triumphed. And it poured down love that rinsed away all the heat and dust that had left Jammuites of late high and dry sweltering under the scorching sun. The respite was a welcome indication as mercury having risen to unprecedented high had left people here panting and gasping for the shelters and shades which too were found wanting in extending any relief. Though the honeymooning was short-lived only, many an anecdote were written among the different genre people, couples and groups who shared their small adventures of rain bringing cherished memories for them. "The heat this season has made everything miserable around. And the unexpected extraordinary jump in Fahrenheit has added much sourness to the daily routine of a commoner who is finding coping with heat a burden full experience this summer," said Munshi Gyan Chand, 66, a retired government employee who with his wife made good of this opportune showers to visit Sabzi Mandi for a weekly purchase of vegetables. When asked where they may find that suitable place in Jammu to make their day out worth under this rain, both said, "The Sidhra bridge overlooking the vast expanse of the mountainous stretch on one side with river Tawi's grandeur moving beneath can be awesome sight which we both want to cherish and capture in our cameras". Obviously, lovebirds of same age group, both hurried off towards Panjtirthi, not to miss the little time in hand for celebrations. Though such small features had become common at the evening in Jammu that had experienced rain lashes, the only one factor that hindered the ambiance reach to its fullest of the charms was the absence of electricity. "The darkness has spoiled the wonderful evening," said another couple who having no significant work to attend in the market had just come out to loiter and experience the atmosphere. "Had there been electricity, we would have definitely showed into some restaurant for a cup of coffee each and even had stayed late night to enjoy a sumptuous dinner too. But its all spoiled," lamented Maneesh Khajuria,42, and Ragini, his wife, both who had come out to see the city bloom under the rain showers. However what could have been the different reasons with the people to celebrate or pester the event of rain falling Friday evening, it otherwise definitely brought a cheer for all for mercury having lowered for a cosy feel. "Happy raining" was the soliloquy every individual sung on a hot summer day in Jammu that cooled their simmering spirits.
