3 children die, 22 injured in lightening incidents

JAMMU, May 28: Three children were killed on spot and eighteen others received injuries in two separate lightening incidents occurred in mountainous districts of Reasi and Doda while four others sustained injuries when a house collapsed due to flash light on the outskirts of Jammu city.
In the first incident, the bad weather claimed three lives in village Nihaj, Mahore.
The three children including two sisters and a male child were playing in a ground just outside their respective residences when lightening struck them.
The deceased have been identified as two sisters identified as Gulshan Bano,15, and Fatima Bano,11, daughters of Abdul Gani and Sarfraz Gul, 5, son of Abdul Rehman.
In another incident, 18 children got injured when lightening fell in the play ground of Government Middle School Deoli, Doda.
The injured were rushed to the Sub district hospital where the condition of the four children is stated to be critical.
Rest of the injured children after providing first aid were discharged from the hospital.
Those who are admitted in the hospital have been identified as Namaz Bano, Arif Hussain, Muteeda Bano and Rehman. All are students of 7th class.
The incident occurred at around 10:30 am this morning during recess time of the school.
The children were playing in the school ground, the lightening fell on a tree in the school which became the cause of injuries since four of the children, who got critically injured, were sitting under its shade.
Of the eighteen students 12 were girls and 6 were boys.
Meanwhile, four other persons received injuries when a house collapsed due to lightening and thunder at Gharota today.
All the four family members were having lunch when their roof top was collapsed due to lightening resulting injuries to them.
They have been identified as Gulzar Bibi wife of Mohd Ashraf and their three children namely Rubeena, Waseem and Sameer Khan.
The injured were rushed to GMC hospital for treatment.
