Gujjars to celebrate May 29 as festival

Jammu, May 29: Terming inauguration of Gujjar Desh Charitable Trust by All India Congress Committee President and UPA Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi a "historic moment", Masuad Chowdary President Trust said that Gujjars would celebrate this date (May 29) as festival like Eid, Diwali or Christmas.
He recalled and added that for the past hundred years Gujjar community has not witnessed a historic event and would not also witness same in coming hundred years.
Addressing the gathering, Chowdary said that despite having over busy scheduled regarding nation and national interests Sonia by sparing time for Gujjar community has proved that she is kind to community.
In his speech, he praised successive chief ministers of state including Farooq Abdullah, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed, besides present incumbent Omar Abdullah for their contribution and financial support.
This indicated that programme has no way served political purpose of coalition government but was purely socio-ethical.
Chowdary without providing any space to political environment on stage pleaded cause for uplifting the community.
In a legendary political style Chowdary urged Sonia Gandhi for implementation of Tribal Status within community in letter and sprit as it stands already announced.
"We have no demands. You had come here as mother and you are mother of one hundred twenty corers of people of country. You had come to meet poor people of community, it is more than enough for us," Masuad Chowdary praised Sonia and added "we have only one demand kindly allow us to celebrate the day like Eid, Diwali and Christmas in future".
