| Posts under SSA, no proper arrangements to submit applications | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 29: It is utter chaos at Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) office these days as hundreds of aspirants, who are thronging the place to submit their respective application forms, are being welcomed by total mismanagement of the authorities. The advertisement for appointment under different contractual posts was notified in different newspapers on different dates and the last date for submission of forms is May 30. The candidates alleged that the department provided only 15 days for submission of application forms out of which 5 days were holidays and on top of it department only works for five days a week. There was advertisement for 178 posts including Assistant Engineers, Junior Engineers, Assistant Programmers, Auditors, Data Entry Operators and Computer Assistants in SSA. Hundreds of unemployed youths are rushing at SSA office per day for submission of their forms. They also alleged that there was no facility of postal submission of the forms mentioned in the advertisement. The candidates are coming from different districts of Jammu province such as Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Poonch and Rajouri. Love Sharma, a candidate who visited Jammu all the way from Poonch said, " I came here at 6:30 am with a hope that I will be able to submit form as early as possible but to my utter dismay the counter is opened at 10 am, where as the office timings are from 8 am to 2 pm." He also stated that on an average almost 700 candidates are coming here to submit their forms daily. "What is worse is that there was only one counter available for submission of forms both for male and females", visually angered Sharma said. Another candidate Rajesh Kumar from Kathua lamented that there was no proper arrangement for water and shade for candidates. Candidates also demanded that the last date should be extended for at least 7 days so that every one could get an opportunity to apply. They also demanded more counters and options to submit the forms at the district level. State Project Director SSA Khursheed Ahmed Roshi said that till date the department had received 7 thousand of forms from Jammu region, and the department had decided to extend the date up to June 10, 2010 keeping in view the heavy rush of the applicants. The staff was not present to its full strength as today was holiday, even than we had make arrangements for submission of forms. It is pertinent to mention here that Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is an effort of the central government to universalize elementary education by community-ownership of the school system. It is a response to the demand for quality basic education all over the country.
