| Agriculture Deptt initiates steps to revive Biogas Technology | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 29: The department of Agriclture Jammu has initiated steps to revive Biogas Technology in teh Division through generating awareness and practical demonstrations of technology to individuals and organizations.
The Biogas Engineerinig Wing of the department which was in state of dilemma for want appropirate technoogy has found the answer in Floating Drum type Biogas Palnt which recommended for family type as well as commercial purposes.
Recently the technology successfully demonstrated in Nud cantonment area of Samba district hwere tow biogas units have been installed and commissioner by Biogas engineer of Jammu District.
The beneficiary units of the army have expressed the satisfaction over the performance of the units and appreciated the continued technical support of Agriculture department in this regard.
Earlier, a number of awareness programmed were organized by the wing of the Agriculture department and around 78 farming families motivated in Jammu district for adoptation of this renewable source of energy which is cost effective and efficient fule for cooking, generating electricity and enrichment of manure.
The department is contemplating a bigger project under National Project on Biogas Devlopment (NPBD) scheme to mobilize and incentivize the farmers so that more such units are established successfully at a faster speed.
The technology can bring about a sea change in the rural sector as well as at the dairy farms where cattle population is significant and energy need is very high.
