JAMMU, May 29: Abhishek Goswami clinched the junior billiards title while the senior snooker trophy went to Nikhil Kapahi in the 20th Jammu District Open Billiards and Snooker Championships underway at Billiards Hall, here today.
In the junior billiards final, Abhishek trounced Jaswinder Singh in straight games 3-0. Losing the first game 30-50, Abhishek fought back and clinched the rest of the three games and match also.
The score: 30-50, 50-21, 50-45.
Later, in the senior snooker title clash, Nikhil registered an easy win over Vidit Gawri beating latter 4-0 (50-43, 60-08, 77-58, 58-26).
The junior snooker final between Burhan Ahmed Khan and Nitin shall be played tomorrow at 11 am.
Meanwhile, in the senior billiards event, semifinals line-up has been drawn with the entry of Kamal Rohmetra, Sohail Khalid, Mohit Mahajan and Nikhil Kapahi in the last four stages.
Now, in the semi-finals, scheduled for tomorrow, Kamal shall be playing against Nikhil Kapahi at 1 pm, followed by the second semifinal between Sohail Khalid and Mohit Mahajan at 3 pm.
Earlier, in the senior billiards quarterfinal, played today, Mohit Mahajan defeated Vishal Abrol 2-1 (77-100,100-72, 100-92).
Today's matches were officiated by Surjit Singh Baloria and Rakesh Sharma.
