JAMMU: A man, posing as registrar general of the state high court, was today arrested from Bhaderwah for allegedly duping unemployed youth of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of providing them jobs in the court. The accused was identified as Suresh Kumar of Prem Nagar, Doda. Police sources said several Bhaderwah youth applied for the posts of computer operators advertised by the high court some time back. Identifying himself as high court registrar general, Suresh allegedly approached some of them and assured them jobs in the court if they paid him money. Sources said when the youth paid him Rs 6.3 lakh, he allegedly distributed them fake appointment letters. The matter came to light when five of them -- Babbar Latif, son of Abdul Latif of Bhaderwah, Mohammad Sameer, son of Mohammad Yousuf, Abdul Rashid, son of Gulzar Mohammad, Ziaul Haq, son of Abdul Gani and Wasim Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohammad approached the high court with the fake appointment letters. When they were told that the court had not issued any appointment letters, they came back homes and lodged a complaint with the Bhaderwah police station in this regard. Acting on their complaint, police arrested Suresh under sections 419, 420, 170 and 468 of RPC.
