| Abducted student rescued, two held | | | JAMMU: An 11-year-old boy, who was kidnapped by two youth for a ransom of Rs 3 lakh, was rescued by police within hours of the incident, with the arrest of the accused. The victim -- Sahil alias Rishi Raina -- is a student of St Xavier School at Barnai. While he was returning home at Barnai after the school closed in the afternoon, Ankush of Barnai and Sunny of Bhaderwah abducted him and took him to some unknown place, police sources said. Sources said the duo then called up Sahil's father Harbans Lal Raina and told him that his son was in their custody. They threatened to kill Sahil if he did not give them a ransom of Rs 3 lakh, the sources added. Harbans immediately brought the matter to the notice of Domana police station. Thereafter, the kidnappers made three more calls to Harbans, who then agreed to pay the ransom and a place was fixed for the purpose. As per the plan, the spot where the payment was to be made was cordoned off by Domana police. Sources said when the abductors appeared on the scene to receive the payment from Harbans, who was already waiting for them, the cops overpowered both of them and took them into custody. The boy was also rescued and restored to his father. The accused were then whisked away to the Domana police station where their sustained interrogation was on.
