| North Korean N-test may help India's case: France | | | New Delhi, Oct 17 Rejecting any comparison between the nuclear programmes of India and North Korea, France today said Pyongyang's atomic test could help New Delhi's ambitions to have civil nuclear cooperation with the international community as its behaviour has been "perfectly clean".
"You cannot compare India and North Korea," French Ambassador here Dominique Girard told PTI here when asked whether Pyongyang's action could have an adverse impact on New Delhi's aspiration to have civil nuclear cooperation with the international community.
Girard said the North Korean nuclear test may in turn help New Delhi. "The North Korean incident is putting more emphasis on the question of proliferation. What that (North Korean test) can do is to enhance the perception that India has had a perfectly clean behaviour." He wondered how it can be "to disadvantage of India" while observing that New Delhi has had "very responsible behaviour which is clear to everybody." France is the third major power after the US and Britain to reject any comparison between India and North Korea.
Seeking to suggest that North Korea's nuclear programme was based on proliferation, he said "India has never helped any proliferation." |
