| Shaheed Bhagat Amar Nath's 40th death anniversary observed | | | EARLY TIMES REPOT JAMMU, Jun 1: All India confederation of SC/ST/OBC organizations, J&K unit commemorated 40th death anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Amar Nath here today at K.L.Sehgal Hall, in which a large number of members of the confederation paid their homage to the great leader. It was also unanimously resolved by the participants that they will call upon the Govt. of the state to install s statue of Bhagat Amar Nath ji at Jammu at a mark of respect to the great leader for his contribution for the upliftment of downtrodden. While addressing the gathering the president of state unit of the confederation R.K.Kalsotra described Bhagat Amar Nath as a 'messiaho' of the down trodden people of this sate who sacrifices his precious life on 1st June 1970 in Karan Park in front of Civil secretariat, by resorting to 'Hunger Strike" on 23rd May 1970 for implementation of reservation in the state. Others who spoke on the occasion were Mohd. Ab. Choudhary, Harbans Lal, Zaveer Choudary, Rohit Verma and Romesh Sarmal etc.meanwhile Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) workers and senor leaders also paid rich tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Amarnth at party headquarter here today. State president BSP, Tulsi Dass langeh on the occasion appreciated his services for the upliftment of scheduled cast's masses of the society living in the state of J&K and his efforts for the implementation of reservation rules en-shrined in the Indian constitution.
