| White Knight Corps celebrates Raising Day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jun 1: White Knight Corps was raised on 1st June, 1972 on the banks of Tawi River at Nagrota. Since its raising, the Corps has grown to become the largest and the most active operationally committed force of the Indian Army. With the number of troops and its sheer size it outweighs many Armies of the world. Its area of responsibility envelops a spectrum of diversity which ranges from snow capped mountains, hills, riverine terrain, to developed terrain. In Special Order of the Day, Lieutenant General Rameshwar Roy, General Officer Commanding 16 Corps, complimented all ranks for their outstanding contribution in combating militancy and assisting the Administration in regaining normalcy. He reminded the troops of the tremendous sacrifices made which helped to achieve the present state. The GOC was confident that in future also the White Knight fraternity would continue to scale the dizzy heights of success. The five day long celebration commenced today with a wreath laying ceremony at the Balidan Stambh Memorial at Jammu where wreath were laid by Lt Gen Rameshwar Roy, GOC 16 Corps, Maj Gen R.H Vardhan, COS and other senior officers to commemorate the gallant sacrifices made by our valiant soldiers in the past. This was followed by a special Sainik Sammelan. A Sainik Bhoj was also organized for the troops on the occasion as the part of the 38th Raising Day Celebrations.
