| Gaddi, Sippi seek political reservation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jun 1: Gaddi and Sippi communities have demanded political reservation and representation in government to end the stalemate of more than 62 years, besides announcement of special package for equitable development. A deputation of All J&K, Gaddi/Shippi Congress Cell led by M S Niaz, MLA Bhaderwah comprising of Dr. Suril Singh Uttam, state president, Jai Singh Chauhan, vice president, Raj Kumar Lalhal, general secretary and legal advisor & Joginder Singh Chauhan organizing secretary submitted a memorandum to Prithvi Raj Chauhan, Union Minister and general secretary AICC and in charge J&K, Saif-ud-Din Soz president J&K PCC. The deputation stressed that the twin tribes constitute about four lakhs of state population scattered in hilly areas of district Doda, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Ramban, Jammu and Samba and require special package for equitable development. The copies of the resolution have been submitted to Sonia Gandhi, president AlCC, Gh. Nabi Azad Sahib, Union Health Minister being well versed with the plight of tribes in J&K, Omar Abdullah Sahib, Chief Minister of J&K and other union and state leaders. The deputation has projected inter alia the demands for quick redressal which include constitution of Advisory Board for Development of Gaddi/Shippi tribal communities, implementation of Tribal Plan in areas inhabited by Gaddi/Shippi tribes in respect of overall development, inclusion of Gaddi language in 6th schedule, hostel facility and instant release of scholarship to students of Gaddi/Shippi communities, reservation quota in BOPEE under sub-category STGS, correction of nomenclature of Koli to Shippi being a misnomer and appointment of Chairman/ Vice Chairman out of Gaddi/Shippi communities in various Corporation/ Boards.
